Birth control pills can do many things besides protecting you from pregnancy, some good, some bad. It may help acne and protect against certain types of ovarian cancer. It may make your boobs grow. probably it will make your periods lighter and more regular. But it WILL NOT protect you from sexually transmitted diseases.

If you miss one day of the pill, usually you just take it as soon as you remember. If you miss more than that the instructions will probably tell you what to do. Usually it will involve using a backup method.

Most women find that the pill gives them a perfect 28 day cycle and that their periods are much lighter. But this isn't true of everybody. It depends on the particular woman and the particular pill. A lot of women go in it for this reason alone. That's why I went on it wven though I wasn't sexually active at the time.

It is very bad if you use somebody else's birth control pills. You may not be a good candidate for using the pill--that's why a doctor has to prescribe them. If you aren't a good candidate they could cause you to have a stroke or other problems. Plus, you can't share pills with someone else, such as you taking half a pack and her taking the other pack. You have to take them in a very particular way, so if she''s taking them the right way she won';t have any for you.
