    Depo Provera Inquiry

Ok about a year ago I was at Planned Parenthood inquiring about the Depo Shot. The doctor at that time told me that before I can be "allowed" to have the shot I need to have a bone density test done. I've used this method of BC about 5 years ago and never had to go through this. I opted not to do it so I chose another method. Anyhow, has anyone had a similar situation or can anyone tell me why this is being done now?

    Hi there

I was on the depo for around 5 months. I did go off it 6 months ago however because i became really emotional and sensitive while on it. I was never asked to have one of those tests before my first shot, but maybe its different for other countries. Im in new zealand. Personally, i wouldn't recommend the depo provera. its nasty.

      Depo

I was on depo for a while and was told that no one should stay on it for more than 2 years because it causes bone loss. The bone density would tell them if you were losing bone mass, to see if it was safe for you to go on depo again.

      Hope this helps.
