Is it possible to be pregnant even when you're on the pill???

My 17 year old daughter has been on the pill for about a year and a half (mainly to regulate her periods but she's 17 and I'm not stupid). She missed one pill a couple of months ago and her periods have been all over the place since, even though she has stuck to her pill schedule since. I spoke to our doctor this morning, and even though she is still getting her period, he's sending her for a urine test to rule out pregnancy. Is it even possible to be pregnant when you've been on the pill and still getting your period?? Thanks everyone!!

Yes, I have a 23 year old and a 20 year old to prove it. I took my pills on time every day and never missed one.

Oooohhhhh. Now I'm worried. She doesn't do the test till April 1st, so we'll see what comes of it. She doesn't know what her doctor is even thinking, I thought I'd let her enjoy her spring break vacation then tell her when she gets home. Or maybe I won't tell her at all, just do the test and only say anything if it comes back positive.
