    Microgynon 30 causing headaches?

I have been on a contraceptive pill now for, what must be about 9 months or so, mostly to help with my periods. I have always had headaches all my life, even before I started the pill and my mum thought it was because I needed glasses. I got my glasses and the headaches were gone for a while, but then they came back. This was a good few years ago.

Each time I go for my pill check at the doctor's, they always ask me have I had headaches whilst being on the pill. I tell them yes, but I got them before I started on the pill and I haven't noticed them become worse with the pill. Only recently, my headaches have gotten a lot worse and it wasn't long since I went for my last pill check and again I said they hadn't gotten worse, but really without realising, they have. Even with my glasses on, in a dark room, outdoors, I still get them. I do sometimes take tablets like Ibuprofen to help them, and they're gone for about half an hour to an hour and then they come back.

Could the Microgynon 30 pill that I'm taking be the cause of these headaches? I plan to go to the doctor's soon anyway about them, but I'm wondering if they'll take me off this pill because of them. I don't mind not having a contraceptive, I just wanted to know if anyone else had my same problem on these same pills.

I was on that pill for a short while and didn't have headaches, but every woman will react to the hormones differently! I have heard about other women who have gotten headaches from this brand and other forms of the pill. It really takes some trial and error to figure out what works best for you. If you think this one is making your headaches worse, try another one! Just switching to something else could fix the problem. When you go see your doctor, talk about your concerns with the headaches and ask if they could suggest another brand/dosage to switch to!

Unrelated side note: How much water are you drinking? This will probably sound silly, but I used to suffer from chronic headaches a LOT. I did the glasses thing, I did the stretches, I took the meds.. all of it, none worked very well. Then I heard it could be tied to dehydration, and I realized I wasn't drinking enough water (h20 - not soda, juice, coffee, etc.. WATER!). I made a conscious effort to drink 1/2 my body weight in water every day, and my headaches are almost completely nonexistent. Worth a try!

I actually drink water a lot more often than I used to when I still had headaches, i used to drink a lot of juice and fizzy drinks but now I limit myself to maybe 1 glass of juice and/or fizzy drink a day. So it's a bit confusing really as I drink water more than I used to and my headaches are worse than ever

If I still have them by next week I'll be going to the doctor's, but I'm worried they'll simply give me some pain killers even though I am already taking pain killers. Whenever I've been with a problem they've prescribed me pain killers and they've never worked.
