    Mircette BC/mittelschmerz (ovulation pain)

    Hello ladies,
Anybody on the particular brand of BC Mircette? & also have experienced ovulation pain between mid cycles? aka "Mittelschmerz"
This is my third month on this brand of BC and I thought you were not suppose to feel when you ovulate while on BC. I know for certainty that its ovulation pain I'm feeling because its a dull pain on one side.

The pill works 2 ways, to stop ovulation and to thicken the mucus that surrounds the cervix so that if any egg does enter, it would be protected from fertilization. It may be possible to ovulate while on the pill, but not too common, especially with a combination pill. If you truly feel you're still ovulating while on the pill, speak with your doctor to see if it's the right one for you. Sometimes it takes a couple different ones to figure out the perfect one for you. I was on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo for a while and that made my periods longer and heavier (10 days when normally I'm 4) and that's not a common side effect either, but then switched to Yaz, which shortened and lightened my period. Each one affects us differently.

You don't just not feel when you ovulate.. you don't ovulate at all. The eggs never mature and get released. The uterus doesn't build up the lining to support the egg that it would have which is what makes periods lighter or shorter. Bcp basically shuts down your entire reproductive tract. You can get ovulation test strips if you want to test it.

ortho tri cyclen lo actually does that commonly. I bled through both the week of inactive pills and the first week of lowest dose pills. Yaz and yasmin are much stronger and I switched to yasmin with no problems. Used it for years, tried a nuvaring for 6-8months, decided to try a mirena iud due to insurance no longer paying for monthly birth control, failure, and then tried out a couple extended cycle pills before settling on seasonique.
