Watch the scientific video called fertilization on youtube. It confirms what I have written following. When exactly does a person become alive and uniquely human? Well, the tenets of Biology tell us that this happens when the diploid DNA sets the stage for every event in life that comes after. DNA is 1/2 moms, and 1/2 dads. When that DNA combines, it creates a unique individual that is fully alive by every definition in Biology. It is not a parasite, not a virus, it is uniquely human in every sense from that point forward until it decomposes into its component molecules after death. The morning after pill sometimes prevents the sperm from actually penetrating the egg, but if that does not work, the pill also will not allow the fertalized egg to attach to the uterine lining which is the same as aborting the the living unique DNA that has been created. Those considering the drug should consider whether or not it is worth it to risk killing a baby.

My goal here is definitely not to fight or argue. I just want to be able to have the discussions because it really is important to develop our knowledge before we do things blindly! I hope we can be considerate of each others opinions

Debruth, although the fundament of what you are saying is biologically correct, it is not, in my opinion, fair to consider a zygote a baby. A zygote (fertilised egg) is genetically a human cell, however, much like the human cancer cells that we can grow in dishes, these cells are not part of a multicellular organism, and biologically speaking, a zygote is no more complex than a diploid yeast cell.
If you believe that the morning after pill is "killing a baby" then how do you feel about all the wasted eggs that women don't get fertilised each month, if they had the opportunity for sex then surely they have killed the hypothetical baby that they might have otherwise conceived? To me it's exactly the same thing. That egg cell that may or may not have been fertilised, may or may not have implanted, may or may not have been miscarried if a morning after pill was not taken..there are a lot of hypotheticals there, especially when you are talking to someone who decided to take this pill and is very anxious about what might happen next. Your opinion is of course valid, but perhaps not entirely appropriate for this thread.

It doesn't become human unless and until it is viable. The morning after pill ensures that no implantation can take place, therefore it's not viable. It would not be able to grow outside of the mother's womb.

You ask for consideration of opposing views - you did no such thing when you told the poster that she killed her baby. I find that not considerate at all. If you had wanted to be helpful you could have told her about alternatives to the morning after pill. You could have gently persuaded her to look into forms of birth control so that in the future she would not be in the position of having to make choices. Choices that are uniquely hers by the way not ours.
That which we forget may as well never really happened.

Your goal is exactly to fight and argue for your perspective. In your OPINION, using the morning after pill or abortion before the fetus is viable is killing a baby. Others, such as me, believe differently. If you would like to debate abortion rights, then start a thread to debate it. But to accuse one of our posters of killing a baby or to suggest that a 13 year old should bring a baby to term and then adopt it out, without knowing any of the circumstances is preposterous and dangerous.

As for the OP I would say yes it is irresponsible to have sex at your age without contraceptives. You should always use BC and condoms when having intercourse at your age.

The morning after pill prevents a pregnancy from taking place. I don't mean to be crude but a third person is not created the second sex is finished. Preventing a pregnancy from taking place or preventing a life form from taking place is alot different from "killing a person" I think people should emphasize this distinction.
