does anyone have any experience with this or know if its a good or bad thing, im debating on which Pill i should go on ... or if i should do the shot every three months

I tried it. Wasn't for me. My emotions were off the chart, and it gives you a biiiig appetite. Plus, no regular periods so if you're like me, you'll constantly be worrying about pregnancy. Not to mention that long term use causes bone density issues. In my humble opinion, look into something else. I didn't think I could keep track of taking a pill every day, but I've done surprisingly well. -
hello there,
well yes there is a shot for birth control it's called depo prevera. i used it for 5 years and never had any problems with it and it is very convient because you don't have to remember to take a pill on a daily basis. yes one of the side effects are no periods. i didn't think that was a bad thing considering i had no period to worry about for 5 years. i didn't miss it at all. some do say that it increases your appetite but i had no such problems like that i didn't gain a pound from it. i have tried just about every type of bc out there from pills, the patch, iud, diaphragm, and the depo shot. from my experiences with bc i got preggers when i took the pill because i wasn't consistant with it and also got preggers with the diaphragm because it was a pain to use for me anyway but no baby from the depo shot. well discuss the shot with your gyno and see if it would be a good choice for you.....Comment

I have been on the shot for 8.5 years. About a year ago research found that being on the shot for long periods of time can cause bone density loss. So, I am having to switch off of it now which I hate. I LOVE the shot. The first 6 months (2 shots) I had side effects like heavier periods and headaches, but after that it all went away. So, I haven't had a period or any other side effects for 8 years. I would recommend the shot, but just know you should not be on it for and extended period of time, my gyno says no more than 3 years.Comment
