NEW to the whole BC thing

I have been having issues with my periods lately more than ever. I know in the past my doctors always tried to start me on BCP. I guess it helps regulate your period and also , they told me that it will help a great deal with the horrible pain that I have. Well that sounds too good to be true lol.

I made an appointment for next week to go over with the doctor the recent problems I've been having. I'm sure his cure will be BCP. I've heard plenty of horror stories about it. I also am not a big believer of taking medication. I've never attempted to try and I am nervous of the idea.

I do smoke and that also worries me ( the two are not a good combination)

Well i guess im just trying to get opinions on maybe forms of bc that people really LIKE and found to be helpful for them.

By all means I am not considering taking anything to prevent pregnancy, Im fine in that department. I kind of just am at a point where i CANNOT take the PAIN anymore.

Any advice or ideas would be appreciated

    Thanks.

helen99, if you don't like the idea of pills maybe you could ask your doctor about the depo shot. there are alot of mixed feelings on this but i used it for 5 years and i have several girlfriends that also use it to and i nor they have had any problems with it. also it will most likely stop your periods all together. i have a girlfriend that has had her tubes tied but uses the depo to stop her heavy and painful periods so she only uses it to help her out in the period department. there are pros and cons about the depo one of the cons are in long term use it can cause some bone loss but a pro of this is no more periods!!!! well good luck.

        Linessa

Hi there, I just started going on birth control last September, and I was skeptical of it as well. However, like you, I have always had incredibly intense pains, nausea, vomiting, and everything else that goes along with periods. So eventually, after careful consideration I decided to go on the pill. My doctor gave me a subscription for a product called "linessa". Its fairly new, and it doesn't have such a high amount of hormones as other products do, and so really you are changing things just enough. After I went on "linessa" I could literally live again. The pains, the nausea and vomiting, back pains, aches, and overall weakness dissipated within a month or so. My periods became regular and lighter. I would suggest that you give this one a try. It really has changed everything for me.
