3 weeks late - negative tests - want to start BC

Hey everyone! This is a pretty desperate post.

I'm 18 years old. I last had my period on April 24th and I'm pretty regular (30 days usually). At this point I'm three weeks late. I've taken 4 OTC pregnancy tests over the past three weeks (EPT & First Response) and all have come up negative. I don't feel pregnant and don't really have any other symptoms (though I do pee a lot but that's just in general, I think).

At this point I really don't think I'm pregnant but it is still plaguing the back of my mind. I called the Health Services at my school and they also assured me that I was probably not pregnant and that the stress of finals/getting a job may have caused me to be late.

Before coming home from school, I purchased Aviane birth control with plans to begin taking it on the Sunday following my next period. Obviously this period has not yet come. I'm getting really irritated because I'd really like to get started on it (and so would my boyfriend obviously). On the BC leaflet it also says that you can begin taking it right away if you're sure you're not pregnant. The nurse from health services at school said to wait a week (to see if my period started naturally) and then begin it if I really wanted to.

Opinions? I'm a little flustered 1) that there's still a chance I could be pregnant and 2) that I'm not on BC yet.

If you have insurance I would ask for a blood test just to be sure. If its negative (which I'm sure it would be) then start the pill. I know you can skip cycles due to stress but I would also be freaking out if I didnt have my period and was 3 weeks late !

Eventhough i am 26, my period did not become regular till i was 21. So if the tests are coming up negative it's prolly just due to stress.
