    On BC having brown discharge.......pregnant?

Okay so I have been on Ortho-tri-lo for 5months now. A week prior to my period i began having what felt like menstral cramps that were pretty intense at times. Next day I woke up with a thick brown discharge that was not heavy enough for a pad/tampon. No odor. Just more annoying than anything. However this has not stopped and its 4 days from that start of my period. I continue to have a crampy feeling at times, not constant. Anyone have this problem? What causes this discharge-I read old blood from previous menses, however this long almost a week? This first time happened since I started the BC. I take it same time every day and have never missed a pill. Its the only form of BC we use.Pregnant? I dont know what to think, anyone have any advice to ease my mind. Will my period start as usual in a few days? I have been really stressed. Just finished antibiotic for a UTI(no sex while on it) just recently lost 13 pounds in 3.5 weeks. Could it be a combination of all of these? I want your opinion. thanks in advance.

I'm on Ortho Tri Regular, decided I wanted to try to "skip" my period last cycle, and am having the EXACT same thing. I don't know if your period will start at the regular time (I'm about 2 weeks into my pack) but I'm not sexually active, so pregnancy would be impossible. I think it's just breakthrough bleeding that happens to be brown.
    No worries

Thank You, but do you think that means my BC is not strong enough for me?

Sounds like breakthrough bleeding. Antibiotics interfere with the pill (which it seems you understand, since you mention that you have not been having sex while finishing the antibiotics). You should use extra caution for an additional week after finishing the antibiotics, to allow the pill to restore to its normal effects. This can cause symptoms such as you have been having.
