  • Yeast infection?? Or something worse??

Well, I didn't really know where to put this soo I decided to go with the 'Menstrual Cycle' category.

    Anyway..
I had unprotected sex with my partner on April 28th. I know he's the only person that I've been with. But after we had sex we were talking & he confessed that he had been with someone else. So anyway, on like Monday morning I woke up & my vagina was itching really bad (on the inside, around the opening, like where you'd put a tampon). I tried to resist the urge to scratch it, but I couldn't, so I used toilet paper like I was wiping & when I did, it started burning afterwards really bad. I had never had a yeast infection before so I called my uhh ex gyno & asked her if I could just try Monistat & that if it works, just assume it was a yeast infection. So I went out that day & bought Monistat 1. I used the little insert thingy.. & when I woke up Tuesday morning, the burning was like 1000x worse then it had been. All I wanted to do was go back to sleep. So I did, & when I woke up, it felt almost 100% better. I'm also having some back pains & some cramping. Nausea.

    Now here's the issue:
Every once in awhile, I get an itchy feeling down there again. Nothing compared to what it was that first day, but I do feel it. I tried to get an appointment with my gyno, but I would be a new patient & the next appointment they had wouldn't be until June 23rd.

My best friend said it's a possibility that I could be pregnant because she got yeast infections at the beginning of all 3 of her pregnancies. I know it's too early to tell whether that's the case, but what do I do in the meantime while I'm waiting on my doctor's appointment? If this does happen to be an STD will it cause problems with me waiting that long?

It's only a few weeks, and the main problem went away, perhaps it hadn't quite fully gone away from Monistat, you may have had a severe case.

Bath if you want also in warm water there, with a little vinegar or try natural yogurt, if this helps the itching then you more than likely just haven't gotten rid of it totally.

But, no if you had an STD, a few weeks before being seen should not make things worse, don't cancel the booking though if it totally clears from home remedies..

    • Though only a gyno can tell you exactly what causes your symptoms, the home remedies that Chandler recommends do in my experience help to alleviate yeast infection symptoms. If I may elaborate on one in particular, using yogurt has for me been the best help (better even than Monistat!). First off, make sure it is non-flavored, plain yogurt with "active cultures" - these are the sort of bacteriae that naturally live in our vaginas and maintain the pH level necessary to keep yeast at bay. Secondly, use a latex glove to make yogurt popsicles, pouring yogurt into the finger areas, tying them off and freezing them in your fridge. When the yogurt is completely frozen, you can cut off the latex of the glove and insert the fingers into your vagina like tampons. Make sure to wear a pad - the yogurt will leak out of your vagina as it melts, but the remedy will hopefully help your yeast-like symptoms.
      Best of luck!
      Lady love,
      K.
