I had some tests done too weeks ago and it came back positive for BV,what i dont get is that i have had this before and i had ALL the symptoms imaginable accompanied with the horrid smell. I dont have that now plus my PH is 4.0 same as it normally is, how can i have BV if my PH is well within the normal acidic level? when i had the tests done i had just finished a ton of antibiotics for a bladder infection and had sex with my partner without a condom as we had been checked out. So confused.

sometimes you can have BV without symptoms. Its just an overgrowth of bacteria in your vagaina. So just because you don't have fowl odor, discharge, itching or anything doesn't mean you don't have it. Only your doctor/gyno can tell by checking you. -
well I have always wanted to join one of the thousands of Bv forums.. But I was so discouraged and lost. I am 25 years old andI have been suffering from BV since 2002- Yes 2002 Chronic Bv.Ihave lived in Alabama, Lousianna, Georgia, and I am now residng in Deagu South Korea. All but my doctor in Korea has told me the same thing"your PH this your Ph that. Dont douche. No tampons. Dove soap. Boil you under wear. Eat yougurt. Peroxide Douche. Take Acidoldopulus whatever. Take Folic acid. Tea bag this and that. " Yeah and the list goes on. My first time going tothe doctor in Korea he did a culture and it came back that I had ureaplasma urealyticum.the dcotors have been diagnosing me incorrectly ALL OF THESE YEARS. It tends to have the same sympton of Bv and they are somewhat connected but it is hared to treat. I said that to day this. When you go and get a culture donw next time ask your doctor to test u for it. SERIOUSLY. Trying all these perioxide douches and teas bag remedies and yogurt inserts is only making things worse.Yeah it temporary releives the symptons but it come right back huh? That's becuase it may be something else and this ureaplasma urealyticum is serious.I urge everyone to at least look into it. It's a shame i had to come all the over for a check up to find out that our American doctors have been failing us. PLEASE at least look it up! PLeASE!. ASK you Doctor .The procedure is the same for bv testing and std testing..They just DONT test u for it.It's more convienient for them to give u FLagyl. If u want to know more SKYPE me or leave me a message.GOD BLESSComment

Hello Girls, Last year, i had endless Swab tests due to suffering from burning when passing urine and frequent ichying..
One of my swab results came back positive for BV and i was relieved that finally i had an outcome. So my doctor gave me some tablets to help it clear up and within a week or so i was much better.
But now the symptoms have come back and its really hurting down below and its really red and ichy not to mention its hurts when passing urine

Sounds like you now have thrush, ask your chemist for some Canesten cream and/or pessary. Although antibiotics are fantastic and we would be lost without them, they do disrupt everything hence thrush as a result. If bad enough it can make urinating sore and burn. Stay away from bubble baths, eat live yoghurt, no sugar, lots of vegetables, not too much fruit, not too many things with yeast etc. Hope this helps. I have been through your frustration so i do feel for you.Comment

Hi guys..The main problem with BV is that it is naturally occurring so even if antibiotics work it is possible that the infection will come back again and again but hopefully...not as often as it seems to happen to you. What I think might be happening is that you are not having your partner treated at the same time. While you are being treated, both of you must abstain from sexual intercourse for 7 days after treatment ceases. Men can carry the infection but are often asymptomatic and don't get treated unless their partner suffers from symptoms of BV.
It could also be another infection like ureaplasma or mycoplasma like 'TiredofBV' said above. Thing is, NHS doctors in the UK and GPs in the States don't test for these infections because they are seen as minor and they are expensive testes to carry out. They are very common though and are transmitted sexually. They wouldn't test for these at a GUM clinic for example and instead they'd diagnose you with NSU and give you antibiotics although it is better to isolate the infection in order to get the first line treatment recommended for that particular infection. I didn't even know these infections existed until I got tested privately and now I am totally rid of the persistent itching and redness I was experiencing before. I go mine online at The STI Clinic andI got results very quick and also free treatment so that was a real find. I don't know if you can use the service in the States but surely you guys have similar services there?
Anyway, there is a way of getting rid of these things, if you cannot isolate the infection and antibiotics don't work then it's best to see a urologist just to check nothing more serious is going on.Comment
