help, this is bothering me
hi, im 21 years old, and i've been diagnosed with uti a coupla months ago. i recently had another urinalysis which said that my urine didn't have blood at all, and that my bacteria levels are normal. i've also noticed that after my period (typically, 7 days) i get light spotting after. is that normal? i also thought there might be something wrong with me since i tend to have the frequent urgency to urinate, and i saw blood in my tissue. i thought maybe the two stories are interrelated somehow, but i dont know what exactly is wrong just yet, i'm talking to a gyne later :S -
Blood from a UTI comes out of the urethra, the same place urine comes out. It is separate from the vaginal opening. Period blood comes from the main vaginal opening, not from the urethra. So, you need to figure out which area the blood is coming from. You may just be dealing with irregular periods which have nothing to do with a UTI. It may have just been coincidence that you had the UTI before. Having a UTI does not typically cause irregular period spotting. However, illness/infection can occassionally cause periods to be irregular. If your UTI tests are all normal, then you should probably turn your attention to hormones or stress which play an important part in cycle normalcy.Comment
