    Please Help- Very Confused!!!

I'm hoping someone here can give me some advice or suggest where I might find helpful information.. Well here's my story.. I'm 21 years old and I'm having serious issues with my cycle and my female health in general. I had been on the Depo Provera shot since 2003 and never had any problems with it other than some weight gain and it made my period stop completely. In 2005 I stopped it and within a month I was pregnant. I ended up having a very ugly miscariage when I was three months along. I decided to go back on the shot but then I started having problems. I basically had a three month long period which has now turned into a year-long-period. The shot wore off a long time ago but the problems did not. For almost a year I have not been using any form of birth control. I'm still having a period 3 weeks out of every month. Not only that but I'm not getting pregnant either. I'm about to get married and have been trying to conceive for almost a year. I'm wondering if any of this has to do with Depo Provera; I've read some pretty frightening articles about it and I'm truly concerned. If anyone has any information please share!!!

i had the problem with depo where i had my period for four months striaght. I had heard that if i got on a new birth contol as soon as the doc would let my periods would be regular again. so i tried it and it workede i am on the nuva ring now for 2 years and i love it. Ask your doc if its a good idea for you to go on another type of B.C. for a while to help you regulate your body again. Although now im afrade to go off of it because my periods will be off again as they were before i went on it. if I forget to take it out in the morning of the due date then i will be off by that much ime in getting my period other wise i can tell you what day and down to the hour that i will get it. sure is nice. Good luck!

      Depo

Hi, i dont know if this will help any but i will try. I am 22 and was on Depo for over 2 years. Myself and many of my friends had alot of problems while on it. Aside from about a 20-30 pound weight gain in 2 years, i also had a light period for that entire time (over 2 years). I was told time and time again by my doctor to wait it out and that it was very common, but it would stop and i shouldnt have any periods when it does. After about a year of this annoying problem, i was prescribed birth control pills to take while on the depo, and told that this would definetely stop the period, and it didnt. I decided after over 2 years, it had been way too long, and got off it, and switched to pills which worked much better for me. It did however take around 4-5 months for my periods to get back to normal when i switched.
My sister in law had the same problem for years with depo and got off it. Not too long after that, she concieved and had a healthy baby, and she now has 2 healthy children, at 22 years of age.
I am not currently on any birth control at this time. Not too long ago, I was in a serious realtionship with someone for awile and did not use birth control or protection for several months having sex regularly (everyday) and i never got pregnant. But often, it can take people more than several months to concieve.
I did do some research on depo after all my problems and the time it takes to conceive after getting off it can be atleast 17 months and sometimes longer.
Most people who get off depo are told to take birth control pills for a few months after to regulate their periods. You are still young so maybe that would be the best choice to get your period back to normal and you may just want to wait to concieve until everything else is running smoothly. I have also heard of people trying too hard to have a baby and as soon as they stop trying, they concieve, so maybe you are stressing yourself out about it and thats the problem. If i were you i would make sure everything with your body is running the way it should and try again.
      I hope i helped!
