Monthly visit or not???
Ok, so I should know this since I have 3 kids but this one got me...My last child is 6 years old and for the past 6 yrs I've had an IUD(Mirena) with no period (that was a blessing) and recently(Oct. 16th) I had it removed b/c my husband & I are planning our last child. So I started my cycle Oct. 19th and it lasted 7 days(ended Oct 25th) so I figured 24 days I should start again...So on my 28th day I think it was my period(IDK) because it wasn't enough to soak my tampon, Day 1- it was stringy very light red (not pink) 2 tampons used. Day 2- brownish/red filled maybe 2 tampons. Day 3- no tampons needed cause it was dry(within) but just at wiping that's when a "little bit" more of the brownish discharge would show but not enough for a tampon....mmm so I'm confused if that was my period or not. I would go to the doc's office but I don't want to waste $$$ for the doc to tell me that it's just part of my period... I will go to those free clinics when I get a chance (on my next day off) but in the mean time does anyone have an idea?? -
I think when you change something, in this case, the IUD, being removed, your body has to re-adjust, naturally because you've taken out the foreign object so your body is confused...
If you haven't had your periods for 6 years, you can't expect it to be "normal", straight away....
I was say your body is purely trying to re-adjust to living a normal pattern after all this time.

your bodies hormones are 'waking up' and it will take some time to back into its own natural rhythm. the most important thing to take notice of, is your cervical mucous (CM). This is what is going to be letting you know when your body is attempting to ovulate. sometimes after coming of birth control your body can attempt several times before it actually does ovulate. Do you know much about CM? and how to tell what is fertile CM?
Basically, your last wet/slippery day of CM before it goes dry was the day of ovulation. If your period comes 11-14 days after this happens, then it WAS an ovulation, and if it doesn't, then it was another attempt OR pregnancy has occurred. The cervical Mucous method of charting is the most effective when it comes to working out the timing.
I may have gone off on a bit of a tangent here and not really answered your original question. sorry if that's the case. Will check again after, am writing on the run....

To "ilovemyyoni" - I'm beginning to understand my ovulation cycle and thanks for that extra info... I've been reading up on this b/c definitely I knew nothing about this other than how many days it takes until my next period......Thanks
To "CW"-
Yes, I totally forgot about how my body needs to re-adjust itself after removing the IUD....duh!!!!! I remember the gyn. telling me that it would take a few months(like 3) to go back to normal...Thanks for the reminder.....Comment
