Welcome to the Forum ely.
Cramps of "air" can create that pain or just period cramps and they can shift from side to side, maybe you have just never experienced it going to the other side.
Dark blood is the "old blood", your body is ridding of the gunk in there, but your body seems a bit out of wack.
Are you on birth control?

Regular cramps is my best guess. The tissue of your uterus will contract in different locations, each time it does you can get a feeling of different parts of your abdomen in pain. There are those who believe that dictionaries should not merely reflect the times but also protect English from the mindless assaults of the trendy.Comment

Are you periods usually regular, and usually normal?
Our body sometimes needs regulating.
When I was 16, they put me on birth control, because I had severe cramping, I would huddle in the school yard, unable to walk and they would take me to the sick room and call my parents.
The pill allowed me to not have such severe cramps monthly and I could breathe.
Perhaps you need to visit a Doctor and explain your symptoms to them, and see if they recommend the same.
