    I'm very self-conscious about this...

To get straight to the point: I have a large labia minora.

I'm 17 and I have never had a boyfriend or gotten close to any guy. If I find out a guy likes me, I quickly distance myself away from him and ignore them.
Why? Because as far as I know, all guys usually want is sex. I'm a virgin, and if I ever do plan on losing it, it will be when I am married. But still, I am terrified that if I ever chose to lose it to a certain guy, he will think I am a freak because of my labia and will:
    a.) break up with me
    b.) tell people about it
    c.) both

I've often thought about labiaplasty, but the thing is, I would have to go out of state and If I have a job, I just can't say 'Im getting labiaplasty ill be back in 2 weeks".

I refuse to wear bathing suits because of the bulge it makes...

Like, it's so bad I hate reading about relationships of any kind in books because I think about the sex and then about my issue...

I've been told by people online I need to get counciling but that would not raise my self-confidence..

I refuse to actually talk to anyone about it, especially my mom, who makes everything into a joke or would look at me like I'm stupid..

Also, yeah pap smears? Scared to get those not because of what they do but because I'm scared of exposing myself...

I ran across this weblink on a doctor forum:

    *Removed outbound link*

it shows a couple photos of girls with labias as big as mine (yes, Im telling you its not small and I hate it)

And it will boost my self esteem for a little while, but only to myself. I will still refuse to even think about a guy seeing it.

I'm sorry everyone if this is TMI...I just need some advice on making my self-esteem higher...if only at least a little bit.

Or if anyone could say about guys they know that enjoy it, because I can't imagine anyone liking it...

If I have offended anyone in any way too, I'm sorry...

I'm actually embarrased to be posting this but I need some girl talk!

I'm a guy. I love vaginas of all shapes and sizes. I have yet to see one in person or in pictures that makes me go 'Eww!'

Having said that, I actually find large labia to be a turn on. More to admire, play with, and suck and nibble on. Drool.

Any guy that'll make fun of you or break up with you because of your labia or another body part is a douche and not worth your time.

OK, this is obviously a serious issue for you. You do need to resolve this since it's causing you so much distress. You need to see a gynecologist. Just make an appointment to discuss this issue with him or her. From your attitude, maybe a female gyn would be best. Just make the appointment for a discussion, no exam, just to "break the ice".

If you should ever decide to have surgery for this, you're under no obligation to tell your employer the details of what procedures are being performed. It's a health issue, between you and your doctor.

Now, I'm a guy. An older guy. Many women are concerned about this. Most of us, male and female, have body issues. We tend to blow perceived imperfections out of proportion. There are great variations in the vulva, especially the labia minora, from one woman to another. What men find attractive in this may vary a little, like everything else. But, I've never heard 1 man complain about a woman having a weird looking ......
You see, we, men, are kind of (insanely?) crazy about a woman's genitals. So, I don't think you have any thing to worry about in this regard.

Make that appointment. You're 17, thinking about sex, you'll feel better after that 1st meeting.

        Good luck.

          Hello

You sound like a very mature person for your age. I have to give you credit for believing in sex until marriage. A lot of kids your age don't take this into consideration. I know you said that your mom always jokes about things when you tell her. Do you have a girlfriend you run around with whose mother would go with you to the appointment? Maybe a person who is unrelated. I am 40 and believe it or not I never dated or have had sex. With my history of gynecology related problems since I was 21, those appointments don't bother me.
Good luck and check back in.

I can honestly say as a 36 year old woman I've never come across a man who has been put off by the appearance of a woman's genitals! We all differ a bit just the same as our faces are different. I've got alot of male friends and ran this query by them and several said they preferred a large labia and the rest said they didn't care either way. It really won't make a difference to a man. Have a look online for pictures, not on cosmetics sites where they are trying to persuade you to fork out for suregery, just a general search and you'll see you're not odd at all.
