    battle with HPV

    Hi there,
I have had HPV for eighteen months now.
I have had several treatments done, liquid nitrogen, Podophyllin, burning with electrocautery, and about two months ago I had laser done, not only on the outside but also inside. None of it seems to work. It keeps on coming back. I am not sexually active. I am aware that my immune system is weak and that HPV stays in your body and it's something I have learned to deal with. I am not a smoker and I do not drink. I also discharge constantly. I have been checked for all the sexually transmitted diseases, and HIV testing all were negative. Also due to this constant discharge in the last eighteen months and genital warts recurring my question to someone who is knowledgeable about this matter is could it be a problem that is coming from the inner cervix (columnar cells). If anyone can help me out here it would mean a lot to me.

    Thank you,

    Kathy

I am not a doctor, nor the best person to give advise on this. Though I may have some nuggets to share, I still strongly push for you to talk to your specialist/oncologist. Have at least two to three opinions on your situation (different practitioners).

I am inclined to say it might come from the columnar cells, but best to seek a professional.

    Take care, sweetie.

There are around 130 HPV's... They types that cause warts does not cause Cancer.

Cervical Cancer is a different form of HPV, but as you are mentioning warts, as far as I am aware, they do subside and go themselves, re-appearing though every now and then throughout your life, but after around 2 years.

Have you tried a cryotherapy? This was listed on Wik as a way of treatment.

The main cause again, as far as I know, of re-appearing of warts, is "stress" related.

The more you are under stress, the more they will appear, so try to un-wind more and perhaps try Yoga, meditation.

With regards to the discharge, have you mentioned that to your Doctor? Is it itchy? It may be two different things happening, bad bacteria, which is causing it, known as Thrush.

No I was tested negative for all STD except HPV came back positive. I have done many tests since then, and I have lost count of how many test I have done in the last eighteen months. It's really strange believe me all negative for other std's which make my case harder to figure out!!
For the discharge that was the first thing I mentioned to my gynecologist. He suggested birth control pills because he thought it was to do with my hormones. Unfortunately It wasn't that at all! Somehow I am back to where I started with this problem. The gynecologist did mention cryotherapy on my last visit which was four weeks ago. He told me to wait another six months and try cryotherapy then.

        Thank you,
        Kathy
