    Smell Question

Ok, I feel very dumb asking this question but I will explain why first. I have continuously dealt with chronic BV since before I was in highschool and I'm 32 now. I never knew what it was because I was so young (and my parents never talked about vaginal health or sex with me) and I didnt see a gynecologist until I was 18. So I would fight it off for a day or maybe two with the normal metrogel or that one huge pill (diflucan, maybe?). Anyway even after using the medication it would always come back and frustrate me. Oral sex on me was never an option until I met my ex. and he always went down whether it smelled good or not. It was weird and he never made any comments even though I know it wasnt good and I wasnt just hullucinating. You know when you smell that foul fishy odor. So I decided to try the new product Rephresh and its only been a few days but it seems to be working. I dont have the discharge I normally do and the identifying odor might be gone as well. My problem is this...since I have gone this long without knowing what a "normal" vagina smells like, I'm not sure if mine is ok smelling or what. It doesn't smell like it did, but I dont know what to compare it too. lol. I know this sounds really strange and I know everyones smells different but what should a normal one smell like? And is there anything that I should add or leave out of my diet that will affect the smell? Thanks for any information, I appreciate it.

Hi. a "normal" vagina probably smells a little like your underarms (without deodorant) about 3 hrs. after a shower. a little musky, but not foul.
I try to avoid too much garlic in a meal so i don't taste "funny" the next day.
I've never heard of the product you mentioned, but it sounds like it's related to pH balance. I have recently started taking Acidophilus pills and I LOVE THEM!!! my digestive system is always in balance, and i haven't had yeast infections or other problems with vaginal discharge since i've been taking them. Try it, see what you think, I buy mine for very cheap at a local grocery store. I'm pretty sure you don't have a Trader Joe's, But buy the cheapest one you can find. I know a bottle can see for as much as $50, I buy a bottle of 200 for $3-4 .
    good luck

We actually do have a trader joes. Its about an hour or so away, but I love going there. I actually do take Acidophilus already and I try to eat yougurt at least once a day or once every other day. I've cut down on sweet foods and I'm drinking lots of water. Prior to rephresh, which does affect ph, nothing changed. I tried lots of different things and nothing. But I'm not pushing that product or anything, different bodies react to different products and who knows how long this will last(hopefully a long while lol). But good to know about the garlic thing. and I'm sure onions dont help. I eat them often. lol. Thanks for your information. I really appreciate it.
