When does a girl's body start producing white discharge?

When does a girl's body start producing white discharge?
    Is it from the birth?
Or some time before her first ever period?
    Is the start cause hormonal?

I know I'm old enough to know the stuff but I never really thought about it when I went through my younger years. I have a young girl asking me this stuff and I don't actually know.

Technically all women will produce a discharge when her periods begin but the amount will vary in each woman, some women will not even notice. If the pill is involved then there can be much more discharge than normal, some women even need to keep a pad in their panties to manage it. Is it abnormal? No.

Normally once a girl hits puberty, she starts to get discharge, especially after her first period. For me,it was after my first period, wich was when I was a little over 13.Like ItsASecret said, the amount of discharge varies in each woman, but it typically should be managable to deal with.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it's something to do with ovulation. Maybe. Or something? Like, one way to tell if you're ovulating is if you notice white discharge?

Yeah way to forget my education.

Yep, it's tied w/ the cycle and normal in every way. Can't remember exactly when, but think it coencides w/ ovulation or shortly after the egg drops - believe it makes it easer for the sperm to swim into the uterus. Can be very thick and sticky and, as said earlier, the amt does vary widely from person to person.

Yeah, ovulation. You get the highest amount of discharge when you have the highest chance of becoming pregnant. If I remember right, sperm can live in discharge/cervical mucous for up to 3 days.

Hmh, I have some young girls saying that the white discharge starts about two years before your first ever period. I thik they study that in school.
Some girls on my forum post problems like 'I've had white discharge for 6 months now and still didn't start my period. When am i going to start.'

And I read some place that girls start 'ovulating' since they're born. Like, the eggs are...I don't know if they're ready to be fretilized, but they die anyway. I don't know where they go, though.

I never noticed when I started having it, so I don't know for sure.
