No period for 18months now heavy bleeding

Hi, I didnt hae a period since sep 2008 and went to the doc in april 2009 and noone could really figure out why I suddenly didnt have a persiod and my doc told me it was because of too much exercise. I run about 60 miles a week. I was put on BC till Sept but never got a period or anything so I went off it and on March 10th I got a period. I had it for about 4 days and it seemed pretty normal to me. last Sunday I started bleeding again and it is really heavy with bad cramps and nausea and the bleeding is getting heavier. Im not sure what to do if I should call my doctor or just wait. I have my annual scheduled in 3 weeks.
    Thanks

Personally, I'm not surprised that it is heavy, if you haven't had a period in 18 months. Plus getting off the pill, your body is bound to be a little out of wack from that as well.

If it was me, I'd probably wait it out through the weekend. If it didn't stop or lighten up considerably, I'd at least be putting a call into the Dr's office to talk to the Dr or a nurse. However, you need to do what makes the most sense to you. It doesn't hurt to at least call the office and explain to them the situation (even if you decide to do it tomorrow), let them decide if they would rather you come in or wait or call back in a week.

Thanks for your opinion. I was thinking about just waiting it out but my cramps and the bleeding are getting worse and that is what I screwed me off a little bit. I normally had never any pain or any trouble with my period and I normally never take pain pills and the last 2 days I took 4 aleve just to get me thru the day

Yeah, it may be a good idea to at least call... If you are in an unusually amount of pain, it won't hurt to call and talk to someone at the office.

so I called today and yeah it wasnt that helpful. They told me that this is not normal and I should please come for an ultrasound next week to get it checked out. But also giving me a lecture how dangerous the whole thing could be and becoming anemic and you immediately start taking an iron supplement. In one point they are saying it can be dangerous but I still can wait till next week.

UGH... Well, at least you called and got their advice. Let us know how the ultrasound goes.
