Hi everyone

I got my period yesterday but it's very dark colored and the flow is much less heavier than usually. Could that be because I donated blood a week ago?

doubt it. I donate blood regularly and sometimes that falls near my period - I have never seen any flow difference related to the donation.

I often find that at the start of my period, my flow is light and a darker colour this normally lasts a day or too then I get my full flow.

Dark menstruation (sometimes a brown colour) may be a sign that it is 'old' blood. Sometimes blood stays in the uterus for a few days before your period 'starts'...it could be because it is a light flow or that the cervical opening is very narrow making it difficult for the blood to exit.

Light flows and dark blood could also occur because of dehydration aswell.
