Ok, Im a little worried, and a little confused.

I have been on NuvaRing for the last two years. I recently left my boyfriend, and I stopped using birth control--my insurance doesn't cover it, and it is expensive. I figured, why not save that money?

I started my period on April 19, and it lasted through the 23rd. The first day, I got really scared, because the bleeding was so heavy that the toilet water was completely red--not just tinged pink, but RED. I thought for sure that it was a miscarriage. Then I woke up this morning and noticed that there was a little blood. Upon further inspection, I discovered that there was actually enough that it looked like a light period. Actually, "light" may not be the correct term. My periods, when I had them, were often very heavy and very painful. While on the ring, I did not have so many problems; my cycles were light and virtually painless.

What it comes down to is this: why did my bleeding stop, then start again a week later? Does anyone have any information that can help me?

I have never been on the NuvaRing, but I've been on the pill and the shot and I was told that it takes a while before your hormone levels are back to normal. But I would suggest calling your doctor if you are concerned. also, you may end up anemic and have to take iron pills for a while.

I have also been on the shot--that was the worst decision I ever made; I gained 4 pounds in 6 months!

I am still having very heavy bleeding. Had to make a trip to the bathroom every 2 hours yesterday, and I was using super absorbency tampons.

If I were getting anemic, how do I tell?
