Here it is I went to get my little fact sheet to share with you all:

There are approximately 80 different species of lactobacilli with so many species some cure others take longer and other's are long term.

What makes it different from other bacteria? The destruction of the epithelial cells caused by the overgrowth of lactobacilli

an overgrowth of lactobacilli produces irritating acids

thrive at an acidic pH which is found during the menstrual cycle, that is why the irritation can be worse during the cycle.

lactobacilli ferment both glycogen and glucose to lactic acid, carbon dioxide, alcohol, formic acid, acetic acid, and hydrogen peroxide. These acids cause the problem.

Cytolytic vaginosis may exist with candidiasis so routine check ups are needed to distinguish them.

    CV is not an infection.

*Even the pH of the vagina is normal, and only some show change in the ph or only around there cycle!!!!

CVSTINKS, do you know much about the "success" rate of these sitz baths for people with CV? I have "The V Book" (it's been discussed here before, the book written by vulvovaginal specialist Elizabeth Stewart) and she claims CV has been debunked and is not believed to be a "real" condition. She says the body can't have too many lactobacilli and that sitz baths don't help with symptoms. I've read several things online today from women who were being treated for CV with absolutely no luck whatsoever. And I know you've had symptoms for a long time, but is it concerning to you that you're not really improving with the sitz baths? I'm not saying the condition and your situation aren't real, I'm just confused about conflicting things I'm reading. =/

My doctor saw CV I'm going by what he saw, have you found any other answers to your problem? If I'm not growing anything but there is dicharge you tell me what it is then? After 10 years want to figure it out for me? It's not some odd rare disease I highly doubt that. I have severe itching and no yeast no BV nothing else showed up no other disease so hmm....

My conclusion the sitz baths help with time I'm new to being off drugs and creams and probiotics. I notice an ease of the itching during my period when I sitz. I've seen some success online and some not but isnt that the same with BV and yeast. So maybe CV has a cure for some and others it doesnt just like other conditions out there. There isn't a pill for everything. I refuse though to continue to take things to damage my otherwise healthy organs. If you want to take all the drugs you can I guess it's not for me. My doctor knew what CV was and has for years and treated many women for it, so I'm going by that. Anyways hope you figure yours out I have mine. When you figure yours out maybe it will be a debunked idea or not who knows...you gotta eventual take a diagnosis though and move on with your LIFE.

Honestly the V book is not a doctor nor is the forum..I went by my doctor, maybe something else will come up on my exam never know but for now it's CV.

And one more thing mine is def not an infection my partner has had sex with me over the past year, although the insertion hurt some not overbearing for me and guess what he doesn't have any sort of infection on him so..it's prob not looking to be an infection or anything like that. If it turns out to not be CV my only other guess is that its something with my own cells attacking down there and causing the itching discharge swollen etc...an attack that may not have a name by doctors but one looks like I am living with unless some miracle happens and a doctor says well you have such n such. They have found nothing nothing nothing over 10 years. I have even been to Sweden and Germany for this! My final thought though is that CV is the closest answer I can get upon wet mount...if it's wrong it is nobody else knew so what can you do, but it's not affecting my actual health it's more bothersome and irritating than anything.

          * Ive had a laproscopy nothing, I've had everything NOTHING. It was a dead end guys total dead end. Again the closest thing on wet mount by cells and everything was CV my only other guess over the years has been some attack of my own cells (autoimmune almost beats me).

Take a look at Clinical Infectious Disease
By David Schlossberg ( who is also a MD)
This book is used in medical schools.

CV is listed in there and it clearly states " there is NO adequate treatment for CV at this time" the best treatment right now is sitz bath/baking soda treatments. In other words its a condition without a miracle. Just like many other diseases out there that doesnt mean it's not a real condition right. Look at Diabeties, Cancer etc.. all real problems without cures. I guess you have to eventual accept what it is and learn to cope with what your given. But it is listed as a real condition.

Immune response. Doesn't have to do anything with bacteria themselves.

Those real diseases like diabetes and cancer have countless affected individuals and hence the research and more viable methods of treatment. A rare vaginal irritating condition that is not caused necessarily by an infection and is more "annoying to daily life" per se is not going to get much, if any, research. There will simply be nothing going towards it except for the common treatments for things that are similar like creams that reduce itching or swelling and such.
There are those who believe that dictionaries should not merely reflect the times but also protect English from the mindless assaults of the trendy.

Maybe you guys can try what I use for my random yeast infections: valerian, wormwood, mugwort, saussurea, vidanga and pau d’arco.
And for overall good female health: shatavari

CVSTINKS, let me clarify that I wasn't trying to attack you, really. You've been in my shoes so I'm sure you know how it is that a MILLION times someone pops up and says, "This is what I have and this is what I did and I'm all better now!" and you get so excited and think the same must work for you, only to be let down when it doesn't. You know what I'm saying? So again, I'm not saying the condition and your diagnosis aren't real...not at all. I'm simply looking at it from all angles because I want to be realistic instead of thinking, YESSS! That must be it!!!

I will discuss the idea with my doctor. More than likely I will end up seeing the specialists at OHSU (I've accepted that) but it's good to know there's another "condition" I haven't explored the possibility of having. I want to have a diagnosis and move on with my life, but the problem is that I haven't HAD that diagnosis and until I do, it's still a mystery and it's still the number one cause of stress in my life right now.

I know the feeling, hopeful the specialist will cue you into whats going on with your body. For me after 10 years I've had about enough of it you could say and saw all the specialist I can see and got an answer that I can live with cause I have to, but of course wish it was something that would just go away. Never know maybe someone else will examine me and find something else, but the wet mount is what cued us in to this and if something changes GREAT hah! Wish I had a cure. Can't wait to see what your specialist has to say, high hopes!
