There are approximately 80 different species of lactobacilli with so many species some cure others take longer and other's are long term.
What makes it different from other bacteria? The destruction of the epithelial cells caused by the overgrowth of lactobacilli
an overgrowth of lactobacilli produces irritating acids
thrive at an acidic pH which is found during the menstrual cycle, that is why the irritation can be worse during the cycle.
lactobacilli ferment both glycogen and glucose to lactic acid, carbon dioxide, alcohol, formic acid, acetic acid, and hydrogen peroxide. These acids cause the problem.
Cytolytic vaginosis may exist with candidiasis so routine check ups are needed to distinguish them.
CV is not an infection.
*Even the pH of the vagina is normal, and only some show change in the ph or only around there cycle!!!!
