    I cannot menstruate anymore!

I'm 18 and a virgin and have been having problems since February last year. I am a vegetarian (yes, I do it properly) and started menstruating when I was 11. I had NORMAL periods all the way up until last year. They used to be exactly 28 days apart every single time. I started the pill in March, but this month I did not even get a period. I cannot find answers anywhere I don't understand what is going on because I am otherwise perfectly healthy. I don't drink, smoke, do drugs, my weight is perfect as I'm told whenever I go for a doctor appointment.

Why can't I freaking have periods anymore?!?!? :'(

So basically your period is suddenly delayed?

That can happen for a number of reasons, most of which are normal and nothing to worry about, so chillax!

It's possible that since you started taking birth control fairly recently, your body is still getting used to the hormones, hence some irregularity with your cycles.

The same irregularity could also be due to your young age. Every few years or so a woman's body seems to go through minute changes that can affect their menstrual cycles in some way, and this is more pronounced in teenagers.

As far as I can tell you have no reason to worry about anything.

May I ask why you went on the pill?

I went on it because of the absence of periods; when they aren't happening, it is pretty much like having the worst PMS you can imagine, which will not go away until I have a period. I'm talking bloating, cramps, and breast pain so badly I could not lie down. I am miserable.

Oh I completely misunderstood... So you've not been having periods for a whole year now? How were March and April?

I finally got it today. Such a strange messed up cycle. I get it on the pill but it's almost not even substantial.

Which pill are you on? Ask if you can be put on a tri-phasic birth control pill like Ortho Tri-Cyclen, Triphasil, Ortho-Novum 7/7/7, Tri-Levlen, Trivora, Tri-Norinyl. Those ones release the progestins (or estrogens) at an increasing amount each week which is much more similar to the way the normal body would. Even on the pill though the bleeding is often very minimal but it does work to regulate cycles if they are acting all crazy beforehand.
There are those who believe that dictionaries should not merely reflect the times but also protect English from the mindless assaults of the trendy.
