Hi all! I am new to all of this but after the year from I have hit rock bottom. Every doctor I have seen has just wanted to give me an anti depressant & it never felt like it did much so for the last about 3 months I have seen a natrualpathic doc. He tested my hormones, I have thyroid issues, adrenal fatigue, low progestroene levels, low DHEA, Super high testosterone, low E2 & E3 levels & also a Vitamin D deficiency. I am on progestrone,( Bio identical) & E2 &E3 cream, hydrocortisone, vitamin C, fish oil, B-6, Armour Thyroid, 10,000 IU of Vitamin D, xanax. I have also began working out, at least 3-4 days a week for 3 months. I have been trying to avoid sugars, & starches as instructed by my Doc. I have been a complete WRECK. Panic attacks that last all day & all night, uncontrollable rage, & then emotional breakdowns. I have been trying to be patient & let the hormone therapy work but my husband & I have both come to the conclusion that I need something more, so after staring at the bottle of Prozac my Doc also perscribed to me for the "in case I felt it necessary to take". I am getting panic attackes over taking the meds. But after looking up PMDD with my husband we have realized that I am the poster child for this disorder. I get maybe a week & a half good life then the rest of the month as my body preps for my period I go literally crazy. uncontrollable. I fear hurting myself, I fear traumatizing my children I fear life I fear losing my family at this point. I have begun counseling again & went ahead & started the prozac yesterday. We decided that they symptoms are worse than the side effects of the meds. I already have major weight issues I cannot lose weight because of the adrenal fatigue since I am in a constant state of stress. Also I have sexual dysfuntion ever since having kids & also being on anti depressants before. Its all just depressing. I feel awful. I have a constant knot in my stomach & a tight chest. I can't relax. This all gets to a peak rage exactly a day or 2 before my period starts. I am just plain irritable the entire week before but the explosion hits the 1-2 days prior to bleeding & then about day 5 of my period I start to come out of it & think wow I was a complete & to everyone. I am almost agrophobic & if it weren't for my kids I would never leave my house. Even though being at home all the time makes me explode on my kids & husband. I'm so sorry for being the crappy unhappy mom. I want to enjoy my time with them. I want my life back. What do I do? How do I get my life back??

Hi, Ive just been diagnosed today!
after months( probably 2 years if im honest) of feeling that i was either dying or going insane.
Finally went to the doctor as how i felt clearly wasnt normal!!
My doctor has put me on the pill. As dont need contraception as husband has had a vystectomy. Im fine with that as this will stop me from ovulating but she has also wants me try prozac for the 2 weeks leading up to my period........ really unsure and quite aprehensive about this.
My symptoms are the same as yours. But finding it hard to get the energy to do any form of exercise. Used to swim and run all the time. Now i do nothing, so obviously have put on weight. And now feel like on a downward spiral. Just need to start. however small.
Just so glad that there is more women out there in the world like me.
Just want this mad cycle to stop.

Celiac disease the cause for my PMDD
Hi there,
I posted in this thread before and was also after years diagnosed with PMDD. But then a friend told me that he believes that I have celiac disease like his girl-friend who has Fibromyalagia.
It took him some time to convince me, but finally I said, "Why not, I have nothing to lose, only to gain!" At that point I was in a lot of pain. I still cannot believe what happened then. After five days without gluten I good rid off 90 percent of my symptoms (it can take up to 6 weeks though to see changes). Except for my rash, and a bit of stomach pain everything was gone, and the list was long:
headache, anxiety, trembling, insomnia, arhythmic heartbeat
depression, stomach pain, joint- muscle pain, constant tiredness,
not be able to concentrate, feeling of having a cold, muscle spasm, nausea, irritable feeling,
super sensitivity to smell, noises, touch
All of them are gone except for the rash. What I expect to go soon, as I yesterday found out that I'm also lactose intolerant. What comes often after years of celiac disease.
I couldn't believe that my doctors never came up with this in 15 years and two countries. And if you search youtube, the internet you will find a lot of people who went gluten free and suddenly lost their symptoms e.g.

Look at the symptom list on different webpages and you will find almost all symptoms from PMDD in celiac disease. I researched a lot and came to the conclusion that a lot of people with PMDD, Fibromyalagia or Chronic fatigue syndrome have probably Celiac disease or another food intolerance.
Often I read with Fibromyalagia an increase in Vitamin D helped, what a surprise, read under Celiac disease, and you will find that the intestens are so damaged after a while that malabsorption of Vitamin D and Calcium appears, ergo the body don't get what it needs --- ending in tiredness. (for a list of symptoms go to: (edit link)
Celiac often increases other autoimmune illnesses (see Wikipedia) therefore I think that my normal PMS increased to PMDD. By the way, my PMDD went back to a very normal PMS.
I don't want to say that everyone with PMDD or Fibromyalagia or chronic fatigue syndrome has a gluten intolerance, of course there can be many reasons, but isn't it worth a try? I'm pain free. I have now every night a deep sleep, I'm hungry several times a day, have no panic attacks, no depression and no concentration problems any longer. Even my back pain disappeared. My husband calls me now Sabine 2.0. why not try it? There are a lot of webpages that tells you which substances to avoid, basically read all the labels and avoid, rye, barley, wheat, oats. There are a lot of flours you can still eat. If only one person gets better because of this post then I am really happy. Please write me if it helped you :-) Good luck!Last edited by CHANDLERS WISH; 03-13-2011, 08:16 PM.Comment

I've been cruising PMDD message boards for days now since my self-diagnosis. (Finally something that fits all my symptoms like a freakin glove!) And recently saw a post where someone mentioned having Celiacs and PMDD. I thought, "How odd. I too am allergic to wheat and have PMDD." And now I have stumbled upon your post. This is an epidemic! However my initial hypothesis was wrong for my PMDD symptoms did not occur until after I'd learned I had the allergy and went off wheat and so I started to wonder if by chance the lack of wheat is what caused the Jekyll&Hyde Phenom. Now I see that that is not the case. I'd also gone off Zoloft though and a handful of other medication around the time of its hideous emergence. Only in the past few months has my insanity, which had never had much structure, taken on a very specific monthly pattern and after some research and a lot of visits to county mental health, the ER, therapy, calls to suicide hotlines and nights of unending weeping on my aunts couch, I've come to the PMDD conclusion and am currently desperately seeking treatment. The gluten free diet has not cured me of this I fear. However, I no longer use twenty rolls of toilet paper a week and for that I am blissfully grateful.Comment
