    Painful lump

I have had a lump near the top of my private for the past week and a half. It has gotten bigger from the size of a small pea to the size of a small bubble gum ball. It is VERY painful and really itchy. I have read about bartholin cysts but I don't think that is what I have because it seems that those occur on one side of the labia or the other. This is near the very top almost above my clitoritis. I'm not sexually active so I don't think it is an STD.

Any insight about this would be greatly appreciated.

There are a ton of glands down there, it could very well be a cyst. Any time you have a lump that is noticeably growing and painful go to your Dr. I had a Bartholin's gland cyst and it HURT... Badly... It is definitely on the side of the vagina though. Get in and see what the Dr has to say.

Thanks. I hope that is all there is to it. It is even bigger now and i can't wear any underwear or even walk correctly because if my legs are together, it hurts....very sensitive. I'm trying to see if i can get into the doctor asap...knowing gyno docs it takes forever to get an appointment.

Mine grew pretty rapidly, probably to the size of a golf ball in a couple of days. I couldn't walk, sit, anything. I had one of those Boppy pillows for my baby at the time, that I ended up taking with me in the car and to my office to sit on. That was the only way I could sit. After the Dr's appt, it took about a week to go down, so that pillow quickly became my best friend for about another two weeks.

Good luck, let us know how it goes.

What exactly did they do to your cyst if i may ask?

He lanced it. Basically makes an incision and put a tube in it to drain for 2 weeks. I'll be honest and say it hurt like the dickens, but so did the golf ball in my vagina. And it hasn't come back, that was about 3-4 years ago.

I couldn't get an appt with my doc so I just went to the ER. They injected some lidocaine around the bump and then stuck a need and created a small hole. From there is started to drain and then the doc squeezed it for a while to get all of the pus out. It was pretty bad. The worst pain I ever felt.

Oh man, I know, I didn't want to make it sound too awfully bad and scare the jeepers out of you because maybe I'm a big pain baby. But I was in hard labor for 15 hours with my first child and I think that whole procedure hurt worse. I was cussing in the room, I thought I was going to faint from the pain.

Did he say if it was a Bartholin's cyst or what it was?

Oh yea it hurt! I usually have a good threshold for pain but since the area was sooo sensitive and sore to begin with, when she reached down to the based and squeezed it...OUCH! She had to squeeze about 20 times. The pus that came out was yellow and even brown and it smelt awful. I felt so bad for the doctor.

She didn't call it a cyst. She called it a clitoral abscess. After I got home I went and soaked in the tub for a while and squeezed some more stuff out of it. While I was squeezing a little seed popped to the surface and when I pulled it out a thick piece of hair came with it so I am guessing that it was an ingrown hair follicle that got infected. She put me on some antibiotics and a cream to be sure it doesn't get infected some other way.

Oh - yeah - sounds like you had an awesome day with that! Well, at least it will feel better with all that pressure gone behind it.

Did she tell you to make sure to squeeze it for a few days? I probably would just to make sure everything has been removed, plus less chances of the hole getting clogged up with crud and it happening again.
