While showering today, I noticed that there was a little tender spot near my vaginal opening. When I was done with my shower, I decided to inspect it. What I found was a small, almost blister-looking lump that looked like two small peas merged together. It only aches mildly when rubbed, poked or pinched, and when pinched, it feels like two small, squishy tapioca beads.

I was tested in June for STD's and all tests came back negative. I have not been sexually active for two years, although my boyfriend and I "fool around" with our hands a bit. We have not done that in about two weeks, due to my UTI, which is being treated with the antibiotic Bactrim.

I have heard of Bartholin Cysts, and I am wondering if this may be it. The location of the bump is in the same area as the Bartholin Glands (just about where the labia ends, near the vaginal opening, on the outside).

I just want to be sure it's not a vein or artery bulging out, but I'm sure that would be more painful, and I don't feel any pulsating or throbbing from the area.

Has anyone had this before? I am curious to know whether my UTI caused this, since my OBG did not apparently notice it when she inspected me for my UTI on Friday. I am taking the Bactrim as prescribed, though I missed one pill yesterday.

Could it be a Bartholin Cyst, and could my UTI have caused it?

Probably not, it could be an ingrown hair.

It doesn't feel like an ingrown hair. Those for me are usually hard and very painful, even when they're small. My mom looked at it and didn't know what it was, and then decided to scare me by telling me that sometimes if you're constipated you can tear another hole between your vagina and your anus so it can get out some other way, then followed up with "but I don't think that's it" (Then why say it in the first place?)

It only aches a little when it's pinched, and it isn't firm like an ingrown hair. It gives way, and it's squishy, so it's not like something I can pop or drain, as gross as that is.

Do not poke at it, the irritation will only make things worse. I am sure it will go away.

Maybe you could just speak to your doctor on the phone? Or aternatively book an appointment and and get her to have a look. Ive never heard of the constipation thing before.. It doesnt sound serious so maybe you should give it a week and then if theres no improvement go see your doc.

I'll stop poking at it, and I'll keep an eye on it. It could be that it is a cyst caused by inflammation due to my UTI. If that's the case, then it's no biggie, and I won't worry about it.

It moves around a little too, so I know it's not a tumor (besides, my tests were all negative, so it wouldn't be cancer anyway I don't think).

I think your Mum is talking about a fistula, it doesn't really sound like one though and as it's not leaking anything out of it I wouldn't worry about that angle right now! I'd keep an eye on it for a few days and see what happens, sometimes these things just disappear or if it starts to change it may give you more idea what it is.

The more you aggravate something the more it is going to react, I would just just leave it alone.
