    infection or not?? please help

Hey everyone. I just am a little curious as to if I might have an infection of some sort.

My boyfriend and I had sex three days ago, and usually I tend to swell down there a little afterward because he's very big. However, now its just a tiny bit itchy, and there's quite a bit or whitish/pinkish discharge on the inside of my lips. It's also in my underwear as well, it's pretty thick also.

We don't use condoms because I'm on the Pill, but I always go to the bathroom after like I'm supposed to.

I really don't want to see a doctor for this. Should I wait a few days, just work on keeping it clean and dry down there, then see?Is there anything i can get at Walgreen's to stop this?

Could just be a yeast infection. There are tests for a lot of minor infections at Walgreens. Either way, couldn't hurt to be taking a good acidopholos supplement right now.

Is this something I can take take to cure it over the counter? I really don't want to see a doctor for it.

I took a mirror and got a good look in there today..a lot of the white stuff has gone away (still a bit left though) but it's pretty red. The itchiness seems to come and go.

      Thanks for your help!

If it is a yeast infection then yes, it can be treated over the counter. I'd buy some Monistat. Also, try avoiding sugar for a couple days as both bacteria and yeast feed off of that and eat some yogurt (preferably plain and/or unsweetened).

Also wanted to add if you are unsure what sort of infection it is (though itchiness is usually yeast) Vagisil makes a screening kit. It's just a swab you insert and it'll change color and tell you the pH. 5.0 and higher=BV and 4.5 or lower=yeast, according to the info packet.
