    Bleeding for Two+ Months

I am 19 and Have been bleeding now for over two months. I went to see my doctor when it had been about three weeks and they did blood work and an exam and everything was normal. My doctor put me on BC to help regulate things and that gave me really bad cramps and made me sick to my stomach. They then switched me over to Loestrin 24 FE but I am still bleeding. Its very heavy and full of huge clots and Im just getting fed up with having my period at this point. The new BC is helping to relieve the clots but my flow is still as heavy as ever. HELP...Is this normal?? Can anyone tell me what could be causing it?

Have you been back to the Dr since the switch of BC? If you are still bleeding that much, I think it is a definite cause for concern as soon, if not already, you'll start getting just plain exhausted very easily and could potentially cause anemia.

    Have they done an ultrasound?

I have called the doctor today actually. She told me that because I have only been on the new BC for about a week and a half she cant do anything about the bleeding right now. Says that I have to wait three months to see if the BC is working the way it should. But I have already been bleeding for 2 months. I dont want to go for another three. I have been feeling very tired. I told her that and she is sending me for blood work to check for anemia. I was supposed to have an ultrasound of my uterus done to check for polyps or fibroids or whatever theyre called but Cant because of the bleeding. I have to get it to stop before I can have that done. Im just getting so aggravated with everything.

I definitely don't blame you in getting aggravated and tired with it. Talk about a pain, especially if it is so heavy.

Are you in a position to get a second opinion? Personally, and obviously I'm no a Dr., but waiting an additional 3 months to see if this pill works seems like a stretch.

I agree with LanaBear, I would get a second opinion asap.

I am going to take the birth control for another week and see what happens before I make too much of a fuss. Mainly because I am going out of state and though I am still bleeding heavy its not as heavy as if I dont take it. When I get home however I am going to call the doc again. If she still cant do anything I am going to find a different doctor.
