Canesten and Spotting
My doctor advised me use Canesten cream to rid of a yeast infection. However, I'm 18 years old (virgin) and have never even used a tampon so the whole pessery thing was a little scary to me. Last night, it felt really painful to insert and I don't even think it was deep enough. The instructions said to insert as deep as comfortably as possible which I ended up doing. Then this morning, I noticed that the cream I wiped from the area was slightly pink. I'm not dying of pain or anything but the area feels slightly uncomfortable. I'm really worried and I can't exactly contact my doctor at the moment since he's away for a week. Does anyone know what this could be? -
Yeast infections can damage the skin and sometimes when we insert pessaries etc past that skin it can make areas bleed a little bit. I'd suggest giving it a day or two and see how you are, that should be long enough for the pessary to get to work and start the skin healing off too. If you don't like the pessaries you can always buy a Canesten Once oral capsule from the chemist and take that as you use the cream for the external skin. Doctors don't give the oral treatment unless you ask for it as it's more expensive but it's readily available to buy over the counter (I'm assuming you're in the UK as you said Canesten). -
Thank you, that makes me feel a lot better! And that makes sense, even externally the skin feels raw and sore to touch. I just saw these crazy stories online and how it's necessary to get checked by the doctor right away at any sign of spotting, that it made me a little worried. I was originally going to get the oral capsules but I'm currently on antibiotics (the cause of the infection) and I wasn't sure if it was going to clash with the oral medication.Comment
