Hi,

Starting last night whenever I wipe dark brown discharge with spots of blood have been showing up. It hasn't shown up on my underwear, just when I wipe. About an hour ago I went to the bathroom and on my underwear was a very dark almost black very thick discharge. I've never had something like this happen to me before. I am freaking out!

I have a regular period and it isn't due for a few more days. I've never had brown discharge as a sign of my period coming up, so it's got me a little worried.

Last month I had a pregnancy scare, my period was 5 days late, but did end up coming. It only lasted 3-4 days. I took a pregnancy test the first day of my missed my period then again on the 3rd, both came up negative. Could the brown discharge have anything to do with that? I'm just not sure of the cause at all.. and I was just hoping for some opinions!

Brown is old blood. It happens to all women at some point.

Oh, yeah, happens to me sometimes - nothing to worry about. I understand your concern though. When I first got my period at 12 or 13, it was dark brown and thick. I was terrified and thought I had some sort of weird incontinece disorder. Then my mom found a pair of my underwear, and told me (amid sentimental "my baby is growing up" tears) what it actually was. Never felt so relieved in my life.

I know what you're talking about... the best thing to do is to douche. That will get rid of left over blood. It happens a lot to me and I usually douche and it stops.
