Is this Yeast or Bacteria? Please Help! :(

Hi everyone! I'm Tammy and I'm 26. Thought I should introduce myself since this is my first time here. Hope everyone is doing well!

So, I joined this site out of sheer desperation.. I wonder if anyone's had the same symptoms and can help me understand what the heck is it I have going on down there, lol!

So about 4 or so months ago I noticed that typical, you know, fishy smell down there. Oh the dread. No big deal, I thought, I frequently for some reason get Bacterial Vaginosis or Yeast or whatever. So I went to the Dr and he gave me metronizadol and nystatin. Said that it would kill whatever it is I have (?).. Well obviously NOT!

I took it, and by the end of the course, the fishy smell was gone. I was happy! But not for long. Almost right away, I began having a.. different smell. This time not fishy, but rather... sweet, kind of like cheese if that makes sense?? I know what you're thinking.. Yeast, right? Well I thought so too, but I googled it and yeast is supposed to give you whitish curdled discharge, itching, etc. I have YELLOW discharge, no itching. But this sweet, cheesy smell.

I'm lost. Is this yeast, BV, or something else? Any ideas will be appreciated!!

As far as I am aware, yellow or green vaginal discharge usually indicates a bacterial infection,so I imagine it would be BV. Go back to your doctors surgery and get it sorted out properly.

I'm seeing him on Thursday... I am just so antsy!
I know yellow is usually bacteria but to me bacteria has always meant the fishy smell.. which I don't have.. so it's pretty weird
      Thank you for replying!

I've had BV for 2 years now and for the first year or so, my discharge was yellow. Now it is white, but yeah. Not sure why it changed, but I guess it might be a little different for everyone. Good luck with your doctor's appointment and welcome to the forums =)

amelillo13 I just really dont feel you have BV hon all those meds you had would of knocked it out cold, I'm really hard pressed to even think its an infection at all I dont think it is personal feeling those drugs would of killed it. If this was me I wouldnt take anymore of these hard drugs to much for the body. I'm really not thinking your some weird special species case lol, just something the docs are not experienced in is all. I think going out the box is gonna be needed on your case. I did give a good indication of what it could be on your other post, and I have other ideas but that was the first to mind based on some of your past symptoms were similar to my friends. But Tammy considering you had BV I think in your case it might be BV again that just didnt clear up properly may need more treatment, fishy smell is very BV!

Read the forum for "chronic Bacterial Vagnosis." That yellow and fishy smell sounds like BV. Read the last thread. I posted some good info. Also antibiotics mess up the vaginas ph so talk to someone in the health food store.
