Sharp burning pain in breast at night

The last couple of weeks I have been experiencing a strange pain in my left breast, pretty much every, or every other night. It only happens at night and I think I've worked out that it happens when I am lying flat on my back. It doesn't happen often, usually once a night and lasts just a few seconds. It is not a continuous pain. It doesn't happen during the day and I have no other breast pain or any other health problems. The pain is intense and deep and burning. It wakes me up at night and it's scary. The pain is inside the left breast, towards the centre of my chest. What can this be? I am 33 years old. It's just so strange that it only occurs at night...it makes me worried about sleeping on my back. Anyone experienced anything similar?

    painful breast

    Hi
I suffer from the same symptoms, my only concern is that I get the pain anytime during the day. Latelly it's happening more & more often.
I was thinking of seeing my doctor, but I do not want to be one of those people that see their doctor for anything. during my last menstrual cycle I had horrible cramps. soo painful at times I couldn't moved. I have no clue if thisis somehow related. I spoke to some of my friends and they told that since I just started to used birth control pills it could be happening due the hormones. Any suggestions?

It is in the same exact location as yours (near the sternum) and it wakes me up at night!! I sometimes have it during the day as well but more often at night.......

I too have the very same symptoms....

I just started having them during the night but I have had them about every other night and it wakes me up while I'm sleeping. It happens twice a night and I haven't figured out what is triggering it. If I touch it during the pain it seems to intensify. I would love to find out what is going on. If there is anyone out there that would be able to give us some information it would be totally awesome!

It could be a number of things. A virus in the cartilage is one. Go see a doctor to find out for certain.
