I Don't Wanna Go To The Gyno

Exactl what is a good age to go to the gyno? I've never gone before and I don't feel like, but I know I have to sometime soon...

    I'm 16.

    visit to the gynocologist

To answer your question, when you become sexually active. Even though you may not want to go you will eventually have to go. It is not that bad. Afterward you will feel better that you did. If you feel uncomfortable your mother or a older sister can be in there with you (if you are close with either one).

I asked the nurse in my doctor's office about my 16yr old daughter having her first pap test, etc. The nurse said that my daughter should start all of the yearly tests whenever she becomes sexually active unless there's a concern with something in particular.
So......if you feel there's something wrong, then go see the gyno. If not, then wait until you're sexually active.
I passed that info on to my daughter......

          Please tell me...

...Does anyone know if it is required for a woman to get a gyn. exam before going to college?

          Please reply. Thank you.

            Huh?
Go to the gyno if you feel that you have something to discuss or check out.
Go to the gyno of you're sexually active.
Whether you go before college is up to you.

Ah. That's what I thought. I wasn't sure if it was required to go. I know you are required to get some kind of medical check up, usually involving shots?

              Can anyone tell me more?

              Thank you for answering me!

Well, I'm not sexually active, but my aunt told me that I was of age. She said that whenever a girl gets her period she should go.

..But I got my period when I was 9. That would have been so awkward.

If you are one of these things:

                  sexually active
                  over the age of 21
                  feel there is a problem

I recently asked my doctor, since my 16 yr old sister became active recently. She got lucky .... they didn't do an exam on here since she didn't think there wasn't a problem and her age. But let your doctor make up her own mind on what is good for your health.

I would suggest that you develop your relationship with your gyno at an early age. After the intial appointment you and your gyno will establish a rapport about your gyno needs.

I know that this is an uncomfortable experience, however, at some point you will have to face your fear. It really isn't all that bad. Just focus on yourself and not worry about what you will look like or what he/she might think. Remember that your gyno has seen it all before and this is nothing new to he or she.

Establishing a good rapport and relationship with your gyno is your key to success in women's health. The reasons why I believe this are as follows: should you need immediate attention for some reason you will be able to be seen, if you need contraceptives you will have access to them, you are able to receive vaccinations against HPV, or should you be facing a family history of diabetes, heart conditions, or other problems they will help you find lifestyle changes that can help you avoid those conditions.

I know that you are scared and you are not alone. I too remember when I was your age and I know that it is scary. I urge you to give this some consideration and think about questions that you may have for your gyno. I also urge you to please see your gyno if you are thinking about sex or have already engaged in sex (sorry I can't remember your status) to consider your birth control options and to make sure you know about sexually transmitted diseases.

God bless you and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

                    Take care!
