Please help me figure this out.

    I have 2 questions
My boyfriend and I had unprotected sex last month. Shortly thereafter he started experiencing signs of an infection (discharge, skin irritation, itching) About 3 weeks later I started feeling my own irritation. We have both been tested but the results aren't back yet so I'm left to wait and wonder.

Here's the weird part. I haven't had sex in over 10 years (yeah I'm actually admitting that) and when I did, we used a condom without fail. He hasn't had sex in over 2 years. But he has had unprotected sex with, he says, 3 women before. Neither of us has ever experienced any symptoms, but we have sex with each other and bam! we both come up with something. What's going on?

My other question is: I started having some slight irritation last week. It's getting worse though. From what I'm reading it seems like either Chlamydia or a UTI. I have to urinate frequently and I feel slight pain in my lower abdomen. I took an at home UTI test and it came up negative. I'll take one again later. I don't have insurance and the cheap clinic isn't open until Tuesday (3 days from today) By that time I will have had symptoms for over 2 weeks. Can I wait that long or should I go to the emergency clinic that I really cannot afford?

Hmm. I think it'll be okay to wait another 3 days unless you are debilitated by the discomfort...

One of you may have had a dormant STD before you had sex with each other, that's the only explanation I can think of at the moment! Weird, eh? Keep us posted on what happens.

The STI tests came back negative for both of us. I had to go back to have more tests because the discomfort was not going away. I was diagnosed with BV and given a weeks worth of metronidazole. Along with a yeast infection treatment to take afterward. I've just taken that today.

My discomfort went away about 2 days into the metronidazole, but started coming back on the last 2 days. I'm hoping the new discomfort is just a yeast infection that will go away with what I took today, but I've been reading the massively long BV thread and it's worrying.

Have him pick up some OTC creme for yeast infection and apply that daily to his penis and surrounding area. Men can get yeast without symptoms and pass it back to you.

He was given an antibiotic after his exam and that seems to have cleared things up on his end (no pun intended). We have not had sex since this whole things started. I was told not to have sex until 7 days after I finished my antibiotic anyway, and I'm only on the 3rd day. So I really don't think he's got a yeast infection, but I suppose since he was taking antibiotics it won't hurt for him to use some anti yeast cream.

It's just strange to me that the irritation started coming back before I had even finished my antibiotics even though I never missed a dose.

Perhaps she's on the pill. Perhap's he's sterile. Perhap's she is. There are many possible reasons. Let's keep the thread on track by addressing the OP's questions.

It's great you two went and got tested to rule out STD's. It is odd you both experienced this but that makes it sound even more like yeast. You may ask your doctor for some Diflucan, it's very inexpensive and is great to ward off yeast. Alot of doctors will prescribe a diflucan any time a woman is on antibiotic as it will help her to keep from getting a yeast infection from the antibiotic.

It sounds like you are on the mend. Just keep an eye on yourself and make sure you are taking the proper precautions.
