Anyone experience Vulvitis?
Hi everyone. About a month ago I was diagnosed with Vulvitis after months and months trying to figure out why my vagina was so inflamed, red, and irritated. I have been using Beta Val for the past month once a day and now i am slowly getting off it now using it 3x a week. However, the symptoms have NOT become much better than when they started. She said if the beta val did not work the next cream I will be using is Clobetasol .05%. I'm not sure how long ill be on that cream though.
Anyways, the point of this is...Has anyone had vulvitis before and what cream did you use to FINALLY get rid of this annoying uncomfortable thing. -____- -
I'm so sorry you don't feel comfortable.
I haven't had this condition, but I'd like to ask if you add probiotics (i.e. yogurt) in your diet? If you haven't yet and if conditions allow, you might want to try adding that, as well as unpasteurized apple cider vinegar on a daily basis (that is, if you haven't already).
I wish I can help you some more....maybe bump this thread, so posters can see and reply. x -
I do not have vulvitis but I have had other problems. One word of caution about Clobetasol is that it works really well, almost too well, and it has the nasty side effect of thinning the skin after prolonged use. The sooner you are off of it the better actually. However, vulvitis can be soothed by that cream. Try warm baths, do not rub the vulva, do not use soap or scents as they can irritate the skin, keep very clean down there, wear cotton panties and when possible don't wear any to allow air circulation. Avoid stress and look into foods which may be causing some type of reaction. That which we forget may as well never really happened.Comment

I actually take probiotics daily since this all started happening. This all started happening because I used a baby wipe one day when there was no toilet paper at my house
so my specialist said my skin is just over reacting and itll take some time before i heal. but hopefully the clobetesol works wonders but i hope the side effects dont get too bad:[

I'm actually wondering about myself right now. I have never had a yeast infection, or an infection of any kind in that area except for a UTI (which I put in a whole different category). Recently I had a sinus infection and was prescribed antibiotics. A month later I became ill again, this time I tested negative for strep and mono but was still prescribed antibiotic. 3-4 days into the antibiotic I started having itchy irritation. Took a diflucan, waited a couple days...no relief. No discharge, no sores, just irritated labia minora and surrounding. During this time I also started drinking 2 tblsp of ACV daily. No avail. Called OBGYN, told me to take another diflucan. No change. I even tried an ACV/water wash. Now I'm at the point where I do not believe this is yeast. It's not getting worse, but it's not getting better. I have no swelling, no burning during urination, and have not been sexually active for around 5 mths.
I've considered allergic reaction. I did switch detergents. BUT, I took my first diflucan (meaning I was already experiencing symptoms before I made the switch. Nonetheless, today I bought some hydrocortisone cream and female anti itch cream along with some baby powder and am giving that a shot.
Kinda wondering about vulvitis now. I can safely say one thing.... having irritation of ANY kind in that area is NOT fun.Comment

My story
I'm sorry to hear yore going though it too
its awful and uncomfortable !!! This all started for me in JUNE!! Never thought twice about using a baby wipe til 6 months down the road I'm still uncomfortable! And same with me it hasn't gotten worse! However a small area that used to be very red has turned back to its normal color. I've seen 3 different doctors about this. A ob gyn, a derm, and an allergist! The gyno prescribed me all those pills, flagyl, difflucan but nthing helped
I finally gave up on all 3 and found a specialist in the Boston area (I live in mass). My specialist Was in the office of dr. Elizabeth Stewart. She wrote the v book. Anyways, she had one look and knew right on the spot it was vulvitis and she assured me I will get better but it is going to take time. So the clobetasol is next to be used! and hopefully it works
(( maybe you should try going to a derm. To see if they can have a look. The derm I saw out of those 3 doctors was the only one that was leaning towards it being an allergic reaction/dermatitis thing! My gyno was all wrong -____- lol

Actually, I got some hydrocortisone cream and some female anti itch Max strength yesterday and also some baby powder, and for the first time in a week I feel relief.
Now the question is....what is it that I'm allergic to? Haven't changed soap or shampoo or lotion. Changed my detergent after the irritation started. Haven't changed TP. Haven't changed feminine products. I use a sensitive skin feminine wash. Hmmmmmmmm.Comment
