how long does it take for your period to return after stopping the pill?

okay, so i took my last pill almost 5 weeks ago now and i still have not yet had a period..

I took a prenancy test two days ago just to make sure , and it came back negative..

before stopping the pill , i had been on birth control for two and a half years. before i was on birth control i had very regular periods.

has anyone else had this trouble before? i just don't understand why i period is almost a week late.

and feedback would be great =D
    thankyou

It is TOTALLY normal for your period to be a bit "late". When you're not on the pill, a 5 week cycle isn't abnormal at all. The thing is when you're on the pill you get used to this robotic cycle that never really changes. But our bodies don't work that way on their own. If you don't want to get pregnant, be sure you're using some form of protection. But in the meantime, be patient...your period will come. It may take a few months to get your cycle on a semi-regular track.

okay so i still have no period..

do i have to get a period before i begin ovulating?

because my partner and i have been having alot of unprotected sex..
he thinks that we should be okay as i have only been off the pill for 5 weeks and we did a hpt about a week ago and that came back negative.

      any feeback would be great..

          Maybe you are just delayed.
