About 10 years ago, I started getting vaginal discharge as well as a single sore on my labia that would appear and disappear from time to time. This occurred before I was sexually active, so the thought of herpes or any STD never entered my mind. But I decided to get tested anyway because I really just wanted to know what condition I had. The first couple of doctors I saw prescribed me Metronidazole, oral and the cream. The treatment did not help. As of last week, I began seeing a new doctor. She performed a pap smear, blood test, and I was given a prescription for Metronidazole yet again (despite the fact that I told her it didn’t work for me before). My pap smear results were normal, HPV, chlamydia, and gonorrhea not detected. My blood was tested for Herpes type 1 and type 2 and was not detected. My PCP told me that my hematology revealed my platelets were a high of 463 (which she told me is probably the result of my heavy periods). And my urinalysis revealed a trace of leukocytes. She also detected bacteria in my urine but she told me this is most likely NOT from the urine but from the vagina. She told me to hound my gynecologist until I get answers.
I’m lost and confused. All three gynecologists don’t know what to tell me and I’d appreciate ANY input. Thank you!
