13 year old daughter - still no period, normal??
Hello, my daughter is 13 and has yet to start her menstrual cycle. She feels very self conscience over this because her friends and other female family members has had theirs for a while now. The doctor said that if she hasn't started by December when she turns 14, he wants to do some tests. Is this normal? -
Well, according to all the health classes I've ever had, up to age 18 is perfectly normal, but the doctor went to years of medical school, so listen to him/her unless it's one of those cost-an-arm-and-a-leg deals. They're just tests, anyhow.
Nature gives us shapeless shapes,
Clouds and waves and flame,
But human expectation is that love remains the same,
And when it doesn’t, we point our fingers and blame.
Register|Contact Admin|Email Admin
Comment

Thank you for all of the responses. The few people we talked to about this had all started at an earlier age which made her feel even worse so when I told her about the responses here it made her feel better
. Although I am not sure how long that will last when her younger sister (11) has had her cycle for a little over a year now and uses that fact to push buttons when they are arguing (I'm considering buying a muzzle, lol).
