I'm new here.
My name's Jacquie, and I'm sixteen years old.
I need some advice.
I've had my period since I was fourteen, although it's somewhat irregular (which my doctor said was okay).
Recently I've wanted to try to use tampons, but I couldn't get them in, it hurt too much. I looked down there after my period and I honestly cannot find the vaginal opening. I'm a virgin, and I can see the hymen and the clitoris and all that, and I know where the vaginal opening should be, but there's no hole. Is this because I haven't had sexual intercourse?
I feel uncomfortable asking my mother because in my culture, anything relating to sex is pushed under the rug. Honestly, she almost had a panic attack during "The Talk".

Your hymen should be just to the inside of your vaginal opening. If you can find your hymen, you've found the opening. However, your hymen may not be sufficiently worn away to use tampons. Most active girls these days who take part in activities like horseback riding or bicycling have stretched at worn away at their hymen enough to use tampons by the time they have their periods - if you are very active and your hymen still appears to be intact, you may want to ask a doctor about it just to make sure it's not too thick to break or something like that.
