I had sex on october 8 and the whole week i have had menstrual like cramps more painful than i ever had. saturday i was spotting and earlier the next day i was spotting but later my period came heavy and now its light again maybe even spotting. i wondering if i should take a pregnancy test or go to a clinic. what should i do?

N.averyonna, how old are you? Is this the first time you have had sex? Are you on/using any form of birth control?
It doesn't sound like you are pregnant because you had your period, even though it was 'abnormal' for you. Having a little more information may help answer your question.

Thanks for the info. Your homones can go crazy for various reasons, which may cause you to have heavier or lighter periods. Sometimes females get cysts on their ovaries for NO reason at all, and activities such as sex cause them to burst. That may accounts for the unusual cramping for several days and spotting before starting. That is not uncommon and no cause for alarm.

Of course using protection is a good idea everytime you have sex if you don't want to get pregnant, but that doesn't always happen. You had your period and it was heavy for a couple of days so it is extremely unlikely that you are pregnant. If it was time for your period and you had very very light spotting, you might have cause for concern, but I think you're just worried because it was abnormal this time and you didn't use protection. I understand your concern but don't sweat it. You are fine

could also be a sign of an std as well?

Not likely. You would more than likely have signs such as itching, burning, rash, vaginal discharge, etc. if that was the case.
