    Ovarian Cysts?

Anyone ever have ovarian cysts? What were your symptoms? Did you miss periods or have a brown discharge? Light cramping/ache in your right ovary? Nausea?

I'm on the pill and have been for 2 years and it's 3 weeks after my period (which didn't show up and i hadn't had sex in over a year at this point)
I'm feeling nauseous without puking, the light cramping in my right ovary and i missed last months period and had a very very light one with mostly just brown discharge the month before. Also over the weekend i had a brown slimy discharge..
I'm just confused. and i don't have a "real doctor" in town anymore
Oh also, i'm 26, slightly overweight, a part time smoker and I work out daily.

Update: I'm having what looks like "normal period blood" now today.. I'm on the pill and i'm currently on my active pills and not the placebos.. Could this just be the period from 2-3 weeks ago actually happening? I'm so confused!

I've been diagnosed with ovarian cysts, and you most likely have had one. Most women do. My symptoms are normally nausea, pelvic pain(to the point of not being able to move), headaches, dizziness, and irregular periods. The brown discharge is just old blood I've been told. If you miss a period, it is common to have brown discharge. You shouldn't be getting your period on the active pills (I'm assuming you're referring to the colored pills. I'm not good with the technical names). Have you missed a day of taking it? That can screw up your cycle. I would probably see a doctor if it happens again. It could be your period straightening itself out.

I've had ovarian cysts for the past year or so, and had them checked out four times in the past ten months. Lots of cramping and lower back pain. I can usually tell which ovary has the cyst by where the pain is coming from, right or left, so I think the pain in the ovary just depends on where the cyst is. Sometimes the cysts just throw off my period, and I have it during the "active" pills, but I don't know if that helps you at all. I would definitely see a doctor if it happens again.

I know this might be hard to believe but I am only 19 and have had 4 ovarian cysts for the past 4 years. I have had one each year around the same time and this last one actually burst. It was very hard to walk, move, laugh or really do anything that would move your abdomen muscles without being in pain. Luckily it was just a ruptured cyst because when I went to the doctors to see what was wrong I had recoil pain which is when they press on your abdomen and you don't feel pain until he lets up. (Im pretty sure its called recoil pain but I could be mistaken) Anyways, I know what your going through and the only thing I would say is what the doctor at the hospital and gynecologist said "Some people are more prone to it then others". Over the course of the next couple days the pain subsided and I was fine.
