    Swollen vaginal opening after intercourse

I had sex with my boyfriend 6 days ago, I wasn't very wet and didn't use enough lube which was discovered AFTER we had sex. My vagina was almost immediately painfully swollen, red, burning and itchy (not an STI).

This isn't new to me as this has happened before and my doctor said that it was normal and I was told to use canestan anti-fungal cream, which wasn't very effective at all. I just bought validosil cream a couple of days ago and have applied it a few times each day so far, it is helping with temporary relief but my vaginal opening is still itchy, swollen and I still don't feel comfortable enough to have sex.

Does anybody have any other suggestions to relieve discomfort or to even speed up the healing??

This was 6 days ago? That seems like a long time to still have this much irritation from a too-dry sex session. Are you wearing loose clothing, and cotton panties to help reduce friction? Make sure to dry yourself well after showering and before dressing.
I would be worried you have a low-grade infection of some sort, whether fungal, or bacterial. Was it particularly rough, aside from being dry?
Did he use a condom? Have you considered a latex allergy?
Make sure you're well lubricated, either naturally or with a water based lubrication prior to penetration.

I used to get this ALL the time years ago. It is normal for irritation to occur... it was SO infuriating, so I do understand and feel for you! I seriously would be so angry leaving the doctors when I was told the same thing every time "there's no infection or std... It's gotta be just irritation, maybe an allergic reaction or too much friction without enough lubrication -natural or synthetic-". It was SO annoying. But honestly, it kinda stopped happening. It hasn't happened in quite some time now. I notice though, I don't wear undies to bed (only sweatshorts) and we only have sex when things are wet enough there... we dont' force it!

I've just gotten it checked out by a doctor and she said that it is a fungal infection. Thanks for the advice
