    HELP?!?!?

I'm 17 and I haven't had a period In about a year. It scares me bc I was fine up until I turned 16 they would come every other month and then gradually came and now I haven't had a period in about a year. I consider myself overweight. I'm so scared and I'm scared to tell my mom even though I'm 17 I'm still scared and don't know what to do...what do I need to do or do u have any suggestions on what could be happening to me

Is there a specific reason you don't want to talk to Mom? Generally, Mom will be your best advocate and be able to help you, whether a doc visit is in order or not. Unless your mom is one of the ones that tends to be inattentive or uncaring, passive, I encourage you to reach out to her.

I assume you're not sexually active since you aren't concerned about pregnancy?
Are you stressed out? Are you depressed?
Are you on medications? Are you otherwise healthy as much as possible, although overweight?

I suspect one of these issues, or you're young and your cycles are just unregulated.
It probably isn't a big deal, but better to address it now.

There may be a few things going on with your body. You seem to never have been regular with your cycle. This should have been checked out when you were missing the odd period or only having them once in a while. In addition weight gain and weight loss can both stop your periods. However, this is not normal and may be harmful especially if you feel you want children at some point in the future. You really need to speak to your Mother and then get to a doctor to see what is going on with you. I'm surprized that your Mother hasn't noticed that you don't use sanitary pads or tampons already, unless you don't live with her. I would have thought that at 17 and if you were still in my house that I would notice this.
That which we forget may as well never really happened.

I would say just sit down with your mom & let her know what's going on just in case something more serious is going on. Mother knows best always!
