    very odd period...need advice!

Hi thanks for reading! So ill start off by saying that for the past couple months (may and june) my period was strangely short...only lasting two or three days when they normaly last for about 5. they came on time just really short. this month my period was VERY late...I didnt get it until the last day of my expected period and its VERY heavy and unusual. The blood is bright (still seems like period blood) but ive never experienced a period without ANY clotting. Its also heavy enough to soak through an infinity pad about every 4 hours for about 2 nights and a whole day so far. mine are never ever this heavy and the blood is so thin. Also there have been absolutely NO cramps at all...very unusual for me. does this sound normal like maybe my body reset? or could it be something more? maybe i was a week or two pregnant? any thoughts would be appreciated...its makes me a little nervous when my body doesnt behave as it should be :P

It could have been a miscarriage if you have unprotected sex, but sometimes our body plays funny tricks on us. I've been 2 weeks late on occasion a few times in my life (I'm 28) and of course the pregnancy thing crossed my mind, but I wasn't. I started exercising or a diet and that seemed to throw it off, other times I think it was stress. It could be the smallest of things. How old are you by the way?

I'm 24. I know that it's not really an emergency unless you're soaking a pad every half hour but the amount is still pretty alarming to me

Soaking a heavy tampon and pad every 30-40mins was my "normal". Yay birth control pills. My mom and sister use such large tampons I couldn't borrow any because they wouldn't go in well or fit comfortably.

Lots of things can throw your period off. Stress, lack of sleep, exercise, changes in frequency of sex and/or partners, other medications... Occasionally I take a med for sleep that makes me lactate. I'm not sure what it would do to my period if I wasn't on pills. Even otc stuff and vitamin supplements can impact the neurotransmitters in the brain. If this period clears up without too much ongoing blood loss and the next one comes at the right time then I wouldn't worry about it.

I would just watch to see what your next period does. Maybe it was a one time thing, but if you next period is wacky too, then I would considering talking to your doctor about what's going on.
