I'm really worried here! has anyone else had the same symptoms?

    Hey,
Ok so long story short I am 27, for over 2 years now I have terrible trouble with my period. Basically I have had my period for over 2 years! with maybe a day or 2 of a break every now and again.
I have had numerous smears, my first when I was 18, again at 25 (twice!), and again at 26, (twice!), so 5 in total. My first 4 smears were apparently normal, and after going to my GP for the millionth time he referred me to a colposcopy clinic. The day I went in for the colposcopy I was informed that the gynaecologist could see abnormal cells on my cervix and so he took a biopsy. Two weeks later I got the results, I was told yes there was abnormal cells but not to worry. That was over two months ago, and since my symptoms have just got worse and worse.
I am bleeding all the time, passing clots, severely bad cramps including cramps in my lower back (which literally ring me to tears), pains down my legs, extreme tiredness, feeling really full after eating very little, peeing a lot more, pain during sex and afterwards I will bleed quite a bit, my tummy will swell up for no apparent reason, sharp stabbing pains by the ovary area which can travel up my side.
In the last two years or so I have also had a D&C, the mirena coil inserted, and an ultrasound scan of my ovaries and an internal ultrasound (of which I was informed there were tiny cysts o my ovaries but not enough and not big enough to cause any problems), all this to try and help with my problem, but it is just getting worse and worse. I am miserable. It is really starting to impact my day-to-day life. I struggle to get out of bed I'm so tired, I find it difficult to study for my masters degree because of the pain. It's physically and mentally draining!
I was hoping there might be someone who may have experienced the same kind of thing? If there is did they ever get to the cause of the problem? what action was taken? etc
I'm so lost at the moment, the doctors don't seem so bothered at all! It's so upsetting! I would be so grateful for any input at all, even just a chat to calm my nerves
Oh I've also been tested for STDs and came back clear, so I know that's not an issue

Have you been checked for any urogenital (bladder, vagina, etc..) infections? I don't mean STDs. The bleeding doesn't match but infections in the urinary tract or vagina can cause a whole bunch of odd symptoms. I don't even get normal bladder infection symptoms like peeing a lot or burning. I get back pain, lower abdomen pain, tiredness, lack of motivation.... An infection can just take away your energy and make random aches. There are home tests you can buy at pharmacies but they are limited in accuracy.

There may be other things the doctor would want to test for if you go back. Again if you take out the bleeding symptoms you could have all sorts of not reproductive related illnesses.

I think your IUD might be partially to blame. Unless the bleeding was bad before it was inserted. It can cause most of your symptoms too. If you were on any hormonal birth control before the mirena then the problems with such things could go further back. That could explain the bleeding if something else is also wrong or it could do it all by itself. Back pain is not uncommon with IUDs, bleeding is definitely very common, and changes in hormones can cause all the fatigue.

Lots of possible problems that you should go back to the doctor for.

I am really sorry to hear about your condition. Please find another doctor. A clinician that does not take bleeding for 2 years seriously is not worth going back to. Don't see a primary care. You need to see the OB/GYN.

Yes been checked for other possible infections too, when had a D&C carried out, it's an odd situation. I had the dream cycle prior to any of this. every 28 days on the button, lasted for 3 days and super light. Then all of a sudden it just changed. That was the reason for the merina coil. I am waiting for an appointment with my gynaecologist, hopefully I won't have to wait much longer.
Thanks so much for the reply, just getting to chat about it has helped immensely

Well Ann I don't want to worry you but your symptom you are going through happen with my sister as well. They later found she had a tumor the size of a golf ball that she had a hysterectomy. But my sister bleed for over a year as she was told the same thing you was. Till she saw a specialist and the tumor was found. All this did was of course she couldn't have kids she still has her tubes but no uterus. I feel for you the pain you are going through and brings back memories of what my sister went through as well. I sure hope you get some answer at the obgyn doctor appointment soon Ann.

Since my post I demanded to see my gyneacologist and refused to take no for an answer!
He has no idea as to why I'm in so much pain or bleeding so much, but then again he for some reason will only focus on the issue of my cervix! So today (after refusing to leave until he saw me) he went through my file and history and discussion with me he decided to carry out another colposcopy. Because the last one showed abnormal cells he carried out a cold coagulation too, which is essentially burning the abnormal cells away, also did another smear test.
I asked would all of this stop the bleeding and the pain and he said no! So I am giving it a month and if there is no improvement I am going to go private. From past experiences public doctors here just never seem to listen.
Thanks to everyone for their replies!
