It's o.k. to feel scared; I still get nervous and I'm 40!!! What I do is just close my eyes, think of a happy place and try to relax as much as possible. It is a little uncomfortable but if you have a good Dr. it's over before you know it.

I am 35 and still feel some anxiety when I go to the gyne, my advice: wash well, take moist towels (like for babies) in case you need a last minute cleans, and relax when you are being examined. The more tense you get the more it might hurt. Also don´t be embarrassed to say it is your 1st time, if the nurse in the exam room is nice she will hold your hand, while pregnant I had to have the exam done 3-4 weekly, it was painful but reassuring when the nurse would hold my hand. And one last thing sweetie, if the gyne is not tender with you please! tell him so, or change gyne. Good luck!

Relax! The doctor will talk you through what is being done and it is uncomfortable but mostly pain free. No matter what or how scared you are.... GO!! It is so important that you have your yearly check up. Go into the gynecology link of this site and look at how many women go to the gynecologist, depend on them and sometimes have their life saved by them. Try not to be scared honey, its only an 5 minute visit.
