I started my period the day of my tenth birthday. For the first few years my periods were REALLY heavy, tended to last about two weeks, and I'd experience unpleasant side affects, mostly cramps and nausea.
They've lightened up over the years, last from five to twelve days, and I only get mild cramps on the first day now, but they've never been regular and I average about six periods a year. They aren't on any kind of a schedule and at least once a year they'll skip for about three months.
I went on an oral contraceptive once when I was fourteen of fifteen for about four months. My periods became monthly and predictable but all the days between my periods left with a sticky brown discharge so I stopped taking them.
Neither my mother nor my little sister share my problem.
Anyway, I'm really worried that I'm infertile or worse. Doctors don't seem worried because I don't want to conceive now but it is on the back of my mind more and more. I've always been told that things would right themselves out but I'm not a teenager anymore and things haven't become normal.
Can anybody suggest a possible culprit? Thanks. =)
